Parent/Student Agreement

Agreement

60-minute lessons. Payment is due in the following manner: Flat rate due at the first lesson of the month. A $10 late fee will be charged if the payment is not received before the 15th day of the month. There is a $25 return check fee. The flat-rate monthly payment includes: private weekly lessons, recital fees, group lessons, songs I compose for the student, and other teaching materials, billing, computer software, continuing education, certification costs, professional organization memberships to enhance teaching skills, lesson planning, and development of curriculum. (Lessons will also continue through the summer.) There will still be lessons on the week of group and after recitals.

I charge a monthly flat fee per month regardless of how many lessons are taught during that month. Some months will have 5 weeks and some will have less. In order for me to be able to accommodate all of my piano students, your time slot has been reserved for you only.  Even if this time is missed I am still using it for the benefit of your child.  I am researching fun music for them, composing a song of their choice, or making games that will help improve their musical abilities.  Please be assured that your tuition pays for far more than the time spent with your child.  A flat rate policy allows me to give every child the energy and instruction they deserve.   I am able to spend appropriate time planning lessons, instead of making up or rescheduling lessons.  This will also help with those who would like to use bill pay. Please give me a MINIMUM of 24 (preferably longer) hours’ notice anytime you cancel (except in extreme emergencies).   30 day notice is required prior to quitting lessons.

Ensemble

Ensemble/Group Lessons are highly recommended! They encourage practice, and excitement with their own private lessons as students see their peers participating in piano in a fun/motivating way. You can anticipate your student participating in a group lesson every quarter. These also help in applying theory they’ve learned throughout their lessons.

Equipment

I require students to use a metronome & they must have a piano at home. Parents are required to provide the music books and any equipment that is needed at home. I do give out my occasional fun music to my students. If this music is not returned, or returned in poor condition I will charge for the music. I do this so I can continue giving fun pieces to my students.

Practice

Parents agree to help structure and encourage regular practice at home. Kids under age 8 should be accompanied by an adult in their practice. Beginners: 15-20 minutes/day, Intermediate: 30-45 minutes/day, Advanced: 1 hour/day. Practicing is definitely the most important way to achieve success in playing the piano as well as building confidence. The confidence comes so easily as they practice during the week and come to their lessons prepared. Practicing daily is the cornerstone of steady progress. The first and most important thing to remember is “Practice makes permanent”.

Recitals

Your student will participate in 3-4 recitals a year. Typically during the seasons of the year. Students will bring 2 pieces to the recitals. Most songs will be memorized (except the occasional duet, etc.). And students will arrive best-dressed unless stated otherwise.

Photos and Video Release

Kaylee Peaden has a website, Facebook page, and a YouTube channel where photos and videos can be posted, and additional DVD’s/CD’s for child. I do not list names, however I may occasionally tag the parent.
